About VMR Burketown
VMR Burketown operates from Burketown, at the southern end of the Gulf of Carpentaria, some 20 nautical miles up the Albert River.
We do not maintain a radio watch.
For assistance, VTS in partnership with other Squadrons maintain a 24hr listening watch on VHF Channel 16.
If in phone range the Qld Police Service should be your first point of contact.
Masters should be advised that a fee applies to operations that are not of a life threatening nature.
Operational Information
VMR Burketown operates a 9M Stingray Rescue vessel with a range of approximately 400 nautical miles.
This vessel is named ‘ Fire Fly II’ and is equipped with VHF, and 27MHz radios.
Launch time is approximately 1 hour from Burketown.
