About VMR Midge Point
VMR Midge Point operates from Laguna Quays, which is situated between the Whitsunday Islands and Mackay on the western side of Repulse Bay (aptly named).
We do not maintain a radio watch.
For assistance, VTS in partnership with other squadrons, maintain a 24 hour listening watch on VHF radio channel 16.
If in phone range the QLD Police service should be your first point of contact.
Masters should be advised that a fee applies to operations that are not of a life threatening nature.
Operational Information
VMR Midge Point operates a 9m Naiad inflatable vessel, called ‘Midge Point Rescue’. This vessel has a fuel range of approximately 200 nautical miles.
Midge Point Rescue is equipped with VHF radios.
Launch time is approximately ½ to 1 hour from Laguna Quays Marina
